So, here I am world!

Here it is...finally! My first blog post. It's been a long time in the making, much longer than I ever could have expected, but I'm so happy it's finally done (minus a few necessary tweaks-notice innately is spelled wrong in my blurb-annooyyyyyinnngggg. I'm a stickler for grammar, so that typo makes me itch!) I think maybe I scared myself with the commitment of a blog. Okay, not maybe, but definitely. I have always been the type of person that likes to be all-in and put 1000% of my heart into anything I do- especially this.

So, I asked myself what my first blog post should be about. Many things came to mind, but I wanted to do something that was applicable to my life right now at this very moment. After finding out recently that my roommate will be moving out, I have been inspired to make some changes to my house. And of course, being around beautiful decor 24/7 365 doesn't help at all either. If I'm not at work (which is design related) or out shopping for pieces/fabric for clients or myself, I am scouring blogs and websites to see what the latest trends and finds are out there and what people are saying about them. Anyway, I am revamping my house as these new changes come about. First step will be paint once our furniture is moved around and some moved out. I can be honest in saying that for the past six years, I have lived with white walls. All . white . walls . Murder me right now. Not that white can't be absolutely stunning, but not in these applications. Far from it! Being in college and moving alot, there were never funds or frankly even time to consider painting. I have decided to quit being complacent and throw some damn paint around f i n a l l y. I think my blog design process actually contributed to my ideas for the schematics of my new room- which is great.

Here's a list of ideas for what I will need for my new bedroom:
  • new floating shelves (the old ones are toast)
  • patterened lumbar pillow
  • new Marley bed (I'm thinking monogrammed with a cool typeface....super manly!)
  • existing lingerie chest that's missing from my collection due to lack of space
  • accents of lots of glass and chrome
  • color scheme: chartreuse, black, white, grey (you can't tell I die for these colors, can you?
  • two statement lamps on both nightstands
  • a paint job to give my furniture a face-lift
  • new paint job/fabric for vanity
  • chevron multi-tone paint job on accent wall similar to this, but more simple (too hot)

Here's what I'm thinking:
What do you think?

  1. All. White. Walls. Gone! How exciting! Love the Chevron idea. I've been looking at decals a lot, wonder if there are any like that out there..

  2. Highly doubtful Marley's bed will ever be manly, that lumbar pillow better be for 2, I don't know what half these things are but they sound great! Can't wait to see everything.
